My love for photography developed at a young age, under a big sky.
I grew up near Souris, Manitoba, where I spent hours watching sunsets over gently rolling fields in the summertime. Big skies, beautiful colors, and the calm of the prairies in a wonderful, connected rural community were all fuel for a rich career in photography and visual arts.
My first camera was a Hanimex 110 film camera, which produced marginal, grainy results. I took thousands of pictures on that little camera until I got my first SLR - a Minolta with a nifty 50 that yielded sharp, smooth images. It was versatile and followed me everywhere, and was the perfect companion to learn the subtle mechanics of photography!
After two and a half decades, dozens of cameras, hundreds of workshops and classes, tens of thousands of miles, countless trails, the transition from film to digital photography, and millions of images, I still thrive on the art of the simple, beautiful image. I love working with people, travelling, learning about other cultures, chasing light, and still get excited when I capture a tiny moment of beauty that happens around me. #lifeisbeautiful
